Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one distinctively Christian caring ministry. Stephen Ministers have been prepared for this ministry with 60 hours of training, plus on-going classes and peer-group supervision.

This ministry is open to anyone going through a transitional time in his/her life (loss of a job, extended illness, divorce, crisis situation, family problems, etc.). If you live in the area and would like to have a Stephen Minister assigned to you please call the church office at 238-2631 and leave your name and phone number. Your message will be returned by a Stephen Leader who will work with you and assign a Stephen Minister that will call you and set up an appointment. You can also send an email by using the link at the end of this page. There are no fees attached and this ministry is strictly confidential.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers to be Commissioned

Stephen Ministers began training on February 2, 2009, here at West Court Street Church of God. Thank you for your prayers. As of this writing, we have three sessions left to complete. On June 14th, 2009, in morning worship we will be commissioning three new Stephen Ministers; Kelly Maule, Marjorie Bittner and Peter Lemelin and re-commissioning Dorothy Walker. This commissioning gives us a wonderful opportunity to show our support for this ministry. The Stephen Ministers will be depending on our support as they assume their duties. We can help them by praying for them and their care receivers. This ministry calls for both time and effort. There are many ways we can be involved in this ministry. Some of us may recognize the call to this ministry and may apply to be a Stephen Minister. Others may accept the care of a Stephen Minister. We can be ministers of referral, watching for people in need and suggesting a Stephen Minister’s care. We all can give our enthusiastic support by keeping Stephen Ministry always before us, and by praying for and affirming those who have answered God’s call to serve in this way. As we commission our newly trained Stephen Ministers, let us thank God for all that they will bring to this congregation in providing care to others, and let us promise them our daily prayer and support as we send them out to minister among us.
